Permacouture Institute was founded in 2007, by Sasha Duerr (Founder/Director), to encourage sustainability and creativity in our materials, while underlining the social practice that supports it, and with the help and dedication of Katelyn Toth-Fejel (Co-Director/European Liaison) and Deepa Natarajan (Seeds to Sew Program Director).

Permacouture was started initially as a non-profit with the Trust for Conservation Innovation- and now since 2014, focuses as a dedicated educational and environmental arts lab that continues to research, teach, experiment, build curriculum, consult, and encourage regenerative design practices for textiles and fashion.

Central to it's founding mission, Permacouture Institute focuses on the healthy integration of nature and culture, encouraging cross-pollination in sustainability movements - while also sparking new innovation and ideas in the process.
